Description
The elegant neck and head of a sandhill crane in the UW Arboretum, Madison, Wisconsin. This image (as a vertical panorama) got 2nd place - Photography in the 2022 Madison Art Guild's Summer Salon. These are the jurors comments:
"This larger-than-life look at a sandhill crane brings us up-close and personal into that straight-on, almost-human gaze. I had a hard time looking away. We are usually clued into this animal through its long legs and distinct walk, which the photographer has chosen to crop from our view. Instead, we are given this intimate look into the eyes. It caused me to smile at moments, but it kept my curiosity engaged as I developed a relationship with this one specific creature."
