Description
Mt Tasman (Horokoau in Māori) and Mt Cook (Aoraki), in the New Zealand Alps, as seen from Lake Matheson. Mt Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand at 3724m (12,218ft). Mt Tasman is the second highest mountain in New Zealand at 3,497 metres (11,473 ft). The New Zealand Alps are formed by oblique slip on the Alpine Fault, which separates the Indian-Australian Plate from the Pacific Plate.
