Artist's Description
Black and white photo of New Years Eve, 2008 in Madison Wisconsin. Also available as a spectacular colour image with and without the fireworks. 2008 was the last year they shot the fireworks off the bank building on the square. This was my first HDR image, so I didn't really know what I was doing. I knew I had to keep all the settings all the same, so I went with that. This is a panorama of 3 photos, and each of the 3 I took 7 photos, at one stop apart. I probably could have used less photos but I wanted to be sure. The longest exposure was 30 seconds. I then added 3 photos of the fireworks. All were taken New Years Eve, from Olin Park.

I am a nature and landscape photographer based in Madison, WI, with images from around the world. I am originally from Australia, but have lived in New Brunswick, Canada, and Socorro, New Mexico, before moving to Madison. I am trained as a geologist, and still teach introductory geology classes (need to pay the bills somehow).. The love of the outdoors has strongly influenced my photography, initially in Australia, but then in the the NW Territories of Canada (I was there doing geology), and the desert of New Mexico. Now I find the beauty around where I live in Madison. If you live in the Madison area, contact me, and I can print images for you (save on postage).
