Description
The statue of Hans Christian Heg a famed abolitionist, at the Big Street side of the Capitol, Madison, Wisconsin. Heg was an immigrant from Norway and opposed slavery. He was the state prison commissioner and advocated for vocational training rather than punishment for prisoners.
The statue was torn down and thrown in Lake Monona during Black Lives Matter protests in June 2020.
